One of the highlights of this week (for me) was rehearsal with Robbie and Dylan, who are singing a duet together. They have similar vocal ranges, so we decided that they'd trade off throughout the piece -- there are times when Robbie sings tenor and Dylan sings bass, and then they switch and Robbie's on bass and Dylan's on tenor. As you can imagine, this requires some careful music marking! And leave it to Robbie and Dylan to make this into a Stooges-like comedy sketch. Here's how the conversation went:
Robbie: Who sings this part?
Dylan: Me
Robbie writes "me" in his music.
{2 minutes later}
Dylan: Who sings this part? (Note: it was the same part.)
Robbie: Me.
Dylan: Oh, really? I thought that was me.
Robbie: No, it's me. Not you.
Dylan: But my music says me.
Robbie: Mine doesn't say you.
Dylan: Yours says me?
Robbie: No, me, not you.
At this point, I get up from my place at the piano and go look at their music. They each have carefully labeled their parts "You" and "Me" throughout the whole piece! haha
Funny, funny guys.
