For the second full day of our tour, we started our morning by loading up the bus with all of our belongings, since we would be moving on to Vancouver that evening. Once we were sure that everyone had all that they needed for the day, we were off to Christ Church Cathedral. It was a beautiful space and, after warm ups, the choir broke into two groups to tour the building. Each group got to climb a tower to the balcony where they learned about the organ. The organ player was very excited to teach the choir members and chaperones- he even treated us to the well known organ theme from Phantom of the Opera!
After we finished our tour, we got changed for our concert. The venue had awesome acoustics, and we had a receptive audience (some were dancing in their seats!) Unfortunately, we were not able to stay and chat after the concert. We quickly changed out of our formals, got onto the bus and went straight to lunch. We were a little behind schedule, so we went for a quick lunch at a nice place called Milestone before we were due to be on our whale watch.
About half of the choir looked for whales from a covered boat, 24 of the choir members split into two boats called zodiaks. They each put on bright orange and red water suits- they felt a little bit like sumo wrestlers! Everyone got to see some whales and, despite getting soaked, the people in the zodiaks were very happy with their decision. The most eventful moment on the tour, however, was when singer Jason Colindres dropped his cell phone off of the boat!
Once everyone got changed and back on the bus, we said goodbye to Victoria and got onto the ferry. We enjoyed an unlimited buffet, which had a great salad bar and a wide selection of chocolate desserts. When they finished eating, the choir explored the boat, shopped and played in the arcades.
When the bus arrived to the new hotel, everyone got to their rooms, went to devo, and went to bed quickly to be ready for an early morning hike on Saturday.Unfortunately, rain cancelled this morning's hike, but the choir still has a full and fun day ahead!
