Welcome! Voices In Praise exists for the glory of God and in service to others. As the youth choir of Friendship United Methodist Church, the group is open to all youth in grades 6 -12 who have a desire to sing and a willingness to make the commitment to the group. Singers are not required to be a member of the church or to have any background in singing. Our doors are open to everyone!

The choir rehearses on Mondays. Girls rehearse from 6:30pm – 8pm; Guys rehearse from 7pm – 8:30pm.

New singers are welcome any time. Feel free to contact Director Holly Reynolds Lee at 301-728-1748 with questions!

Photo Journeys - Oh, the Lessons We've Learned!

We've learned a lot of lessons on Choir Tour and believe it or not, one of the major ones is about laundry.

What happened? Well, when we signed the contract for our hotel in Toronto (Choir Tour 2004), the hotel told us we could use their washing machines but when we actually got there, the housekeeping staff had a different story than their colleagues in the sales department. :-) These things happen...

While on tour, the VIPs all take a turn at laundry duty but when we realized just how long it would take to get everything washed and how late the night would be, our uniform guru, Rolinda, (maybe with help from some of the chaperones?) stepped in and saved the day. We tucked our tired singers into bed and Rolinda and the grown-up crew finished the laundry.

The VIPs awoke to find this funny scene in the hallway:

Yes, every singer's uniform was perfectly hung outside his/her hotel door. It was quite a scene -- and thank goodness we were the only guests on this floor of the hotel!

So, as we plan for Choir Tour 2010, Rolinda and all the chaperones who've ever supervised late night/early morning laundry, this one's for you:

Go ahead and count! That's 7 washers and 7 dryers, plus there are two more in the room. (Now, let's just pray that they work! They should, but as I said, these things happen...)

To Rolinda and all our parent chaperones and volunteers - thank you for all you do on Tour and throughout the year to help ensure that we're ready for ministry. We appreciate everything you do for us!
