Welcome! Voices In Praise exists for the glory of God and in service to others. As the youth choir of Friendship United Methodist Church, the group is open to all youth in grades 6 -12 who have a desire to sing and a willingness to make the commitment to the group. Singers are not required to be a member of the church or to have any background in singing. Our doors are open to everyone!

The choir rehearses on Mondays. Girls rehearse from 6:30pm – 8pm; Guys rehearse from 7pm – 8:30pm.

New singers are welcome any time. Feel free to contact Director Holly Reynolds Lee at 301-728-1748 with questions!

Thankful Thursday: Monday Night Dinner

Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever.
(Psalm 101: 1)
This post is part of a Thankful Thursday series - check back every week to see what we're MOST thankful for this week!

VIPs are thankful for Monday Night Dinner. The food is delicious and everyone likes the desserts. We are also thankful for the wonderful parent volunteers that help make the Monday night dinner. Feeding fifty children can't be easy, but the parents always do it with a smile on their faces! We also enjoy the fellowship with our fellow VIP members. Getting to chat and bond with them is really quite fun. Thank you every one who helps pitch in at Monday night dinners and we can't wait until the next one!

We are thankful for:
New paths to take

And meeting friends, along the way.

For the happiness that comes from finding our way out...

And the warmth of a good laugh

For the fun of games well-played

And time well-spent, enjoying God's world.

We are thankful for each other:

Who drives VIPs to concerts and events? Who prepares delicious Monday Night Dinner for us? Who is always there to support VIP in their times of need? VIP Moms and Dads of course! Although some of us don't realize it, VIP Parents do so much to help make VIP better. They help with fundraisers, transportation, trips, and many other things that make VIP special. VIP can always count on VIP Moms and Dads to jumpstart our engines when we feel that our batteries are running low. Thank You, VIP Parents!

Thankful Thursday: Monday Night Music Baths

Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever. (Psalm 101: 1)

There's a long-standing sentiment among many VIPs that something special happens on Monday nights. It's really sort of remarkable... We can walk in the door in the crummiest of moods, and somehow those Monday night blahs just evaporate. This past Monday, we had rainy weather, chilly temperatures, and skies that seemed to darken just a little earlier than they should. And even with all this, the traditional Monday night mood shift occurred.

I'm not exactly sure what drives the metamorphosis, but Oliver Wendell Holmes once said, "Take a music bath once or twice a week for a few seasons. You will find it is to the soul what a water bath is to the body."

That sounds about right, so here's to Monday Night Music Baths!
